The highest priced home sale of the month in Hermosa Beach was a beachfront contemporary that sold at $8,500,000.

The home was priced well $8,950,000 and unlike most beachfront homes in Hermosa it sold quickly.  It was only on the market for 20 days before going into escrow.  It was  a very nice 4 bed, 3.5 bath single family home built in 2008.

The home offered approximately 30 feet of beach frontage on three levels.  The home was designed by architect Michael Lee with a modern look and feel…..open spaces, retractable Fleetwood window walls and more.

The latest addition to the very crowded beachfront home market in Hermosa Beach is an original beach duplex located at 44 The Strand.  Built in 1923 this property is one of the original beachfront homes and one of the few that remain from this historic era.  The property will likely sell for land value and get torn down which is too bad but the way it goes in this real estate climate.  Currently a duplex with a 3/2 and a 2/1 unit.  The actual location on the Strand is somewhat of a challenge (if a beachfront location can be a challenge) as it’s one of the very first homes as you go from Redondo to Hermosa and this is always a bit of a negative from a value standpoint.  The real appeal, however is that this is a lot and a half with a pretty significant 45 feet of beach frontage.  This property last sold in July of 2019 for $5,600,000

While it may not be on the Manhattan Beach Strand, we like to keep you informed about other opportunities for beachfront homes.  The newest home the beach front home market in the South Bay is a 1942 classic beach house with an oversized 45 foot beach frontage.  Given the age and layout it will likely sell to a builder for either a major renovation or more likely, torn down and new construction.  The location is pretty ideal being in this north Hermosa sand section location with both Manhattan and Hermosa piers being about the same distance.  This part of the Strand is much quieter than areas closer to the pier.  The home last sold in 2006 for $6,000,000.
