Beachfront Strand sales have been few and far between in the past 2 years with and abundance of homes for sale and most sitting on the
market for a considerable amount of time. Price reductions seem to be the norm, but the recent sale at 1920 the Strand actually sold relatively close to their original list price.

The corner lot, walkstreet beachfront home at 1920 The Strand was far and away the high sale  of the  month at $16,250,000.    Originally listed for  $16,900,000 back in May of 2020 this was still a very impressive number given the big price reductions on just  about any other Strand sale in the past year.  The home was ideally  located and offered 5 bedrooms, 7 baths and over 5,500 square feet.

We’re working on getting some information on this sale but a beachfront Strand sale selling in 6 days is definitely big news. This was an ideally located duplex that was in very clean, but fairly original condition so it seems likely that this is a land sale. We’ll update the post as we get more information. It only took 6 days on the market and about a month total for 516 The Strand to sell for the list price of $14,500,000

New Addition to the Beachfront Home Market – 2304 The Strand Hermosa Beach

The home at 2304 The Strand has always been an interesting one. Originally built in 2007 it had unusual features inside and out. Some of those features remain including the turf yard with a small river and a bridge….not exactly something you often see at the beach. The interior had been a mystery for a while as well but that’s now changed and this corner lot home is on the market for just under $14,000,000. The location is pretty ideal with a north facing corner lot in the northern Hermosa sand section making it convenient to head to either pier area. The home itself offers a mediterranean style with 5 bedrooms and 5 baths and a little over 3,600 square feet on an oversized 4,224 square foot lot.

Slow Days on the Beachfront Strand Housing Market in 2020

It’s been a slow year for home sales on The Strand in Manhattan Beach. The Strand is the beachfront stretch of the “sand section” offering the absolute ideal beach lifestyle. With some pretty hefty price tags unaffordable for most, and an abundance of homes that have now been on the market, it’s been slow going to start off 2020. There has only been on closed home sale located at 2304 The Strand that sold for lot value at $7,400,000 (arguably below lot value) after over a year on the market and price reductions from $8,990,000 to $8,250,000 to $7,950,000 and eventually closing at $7.4M. As of 6/12 there are 6 homes for sale on the Manhattan Strand with several other “off market” offerings and a number of beachfront homes on the Hermosa Strand as well.

The beachfront home market of The Strand in Hermosa Beach is already oversaturated (and overpriced in most cases) but we have seen a few sales lately. Now it’s appearing that we’ll see several new listings hitting the market. While we can’t share the addresses or specific details at the moment it appears that we’ll be seeing an empty lot in the near future, an older home in North Hermosa come on the market this week, as well as a very large home that’s been on and off the market several times over the past few years.
